On novemebr 29-30, Prague hosts Study visit on medication-assisted therapies for stimulant users

A team of Ukrainian specialists – chief physicians, narcologists, psychologists and nurses from five cities of Ukraine, together with the coordinator the direction and the director of the regional project, are visiting Sananim, local organisation. The main aim is to study the Czech experience and best practices, and exchange the knowledge which will help to finalize preparations for the pilot project. The pilot is  planned in Ukraine for 2024, and will be on the impact of treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) with methylphenidate in stimulant users.

Participants have visited the office and the Drop-in Center, the place of service provision, talked to the center’s team, addiction specialists, helping proffesionals and case managers. A very valuable and interesting meeting was with Mr Pavel Bem, former mayor of Prague and commissioner of the Regional Commission on Drug Policy #ECECACD.

The delegation got acquainted with the practical experience of colleagues from Czech Republic regarding the drug scene, harm reduction programs, Substitution Therapy , but most of all – the program of assistance to people who use stimulants.

On last day of the visit, participants plan to meet with another psychiatrist and work on the pilot documentation, adapt and update it, taking into account new knowledge, Czech experience and data, for an effective launch in a month.
